Through special study boards, the Governor draws upon the expertise of private citizens and public servants to help solve problems of government. Many of these boards must complete their work by a prescribed date. Others are ongoing. They may receive staff or other administrative support from an executive department or agency. Interagency committees and councils often are formed to coordinate the work of government agencies in a particular field.
For commissions, committees, task forces, and advisory boards that have concluded their work, see Defunct Executive Commissions, Committees, Task Forces, & Advisory Boards
