The Task Force on the Establishment of a Prescription Drug Repository Program was authorized in July 2005 (Chapter 310, Acts of 2005). The Task Force is to weigh the merits of establishing a program to accept and use safe and unexpired surplus prescription drugs donated by pharmacies. The Task Force also will recommend the types of drugs that may or may not be donated, and who may donate and who may receive drugs. In addition, the Task Force is to recommend what standards and procedures are needed to accept, inspect, store and dispense donated drugs; and consider liability issues.
Authorization for the Task Force ends June 30, 2006.
