The State Council on Cancer Control was authorized by the Governor in June 1991 and restructured in November 1997 and November 2002 (Executive Order 01.01.1991.22; Executive Order 01.01.1997.07; Executive Order 01.01.2002.25). The Council works with the Governor to develop State policy and programs to reduce the incidence of cancer in Maryland. Access to testing, screening, and treatment, and programs for public education, prevention, and treatment of cancer are recommended by the Council. The Council also evaluates programs and promotes public-private partnerships to lower the incidence of cancer.
