The Select Committee to Study the Ethics 2000 Amendments to ABA Model Rules of Professional Conduct was formed by the Court of Appeals in April 2002. The Committee examined the American Bar Association's Model Rules of Professional Conduct. Based on this review, the Committee recommended changes to the Maryland Rules of Professional Conduct.

On December 16, 2003, the Committee issued its final report.
