The Task Force on Assistance to Disabled Veterans Establishing Small Businesses formed in August 2005 (Chapter 299, Acts of 2005). The Task Force worked to determine how many disabled State veterans would benefit from State-awarded contracts for newly established small businesses. It also identified current programs, services, laws, and regulations that best offer ways to help disabled veterans who want to start a small business. In addition, the Task Force recommended that responsibility for implementing initiatives to assist with such ventures should be shared by the Department of Business and Economic Development and the Department of Veterans Affairs.

On December 1, 2005, the Task Force submitted its report to the Governor and General Assembly. Authorization for the Task Force ends June 30, 2006.
