Upon recommendation of the Legislative Policy Committee of June 3, 1997, the Joint Legislative Task Force on Organ and Tissue Donations was formed in July 1997. The Task Force charge was to recommend ways to increase organ and tissue donation in Maryland.
The Task Force completed its work and submitted a final report in January 1998. Thereafter, at its regular legislative session, the General Assembly enacted the William H. Amoss Organ and Tissue Donation Act of 1998 (Chapter 1, Acts of 1998).
